Safeguards Needed to Protect Your Driver’s License Photo from Wisconsin Law Enforcement?

MacIver News Service | February 20, 2013

[Madison, Wisc…] Rep. Dean Knudson (R-Hudson) is drafting new legislation to protect the privacy of Wisconsin residents and implement oversight for a program that allows law enforcement to download driver’s license photos. The amount of requests have skyrocketed from 17 in 1998, to more than 200,000 in 2013. Legislators created an electronic access system in 2009, and Knudson is worried the system lacks sufficient controls.
