Governor Scott Walker Signs the State Budget, Vetoes 57 Items

[Pleasant Prairie, Wisc…] Governor Scott Walker signed the 2013-2015 state budget at Catalyst Exhibits in Pleasant Prairie on Sunday. The budget included 57 vetoes by Walker, the two most notable were the removal of provisions that would have allowed bail bondsmen in Wisconsin and ended the partnership between the University of Wisconsin and the Center for Investigative Journalism. The biennial budget includes a $648 million income tax cut, a statewide expansion of school choice, and rejects the federal Medicaid expansion. The new budget will take affect on July 1.
