Wisconsin Republicans Vote for ‘Big Beautiful Bill’

The reconciliation package now heads towards more opposition in the U.S. Senate, including questions from Wisconsin Republican Senator Ron Johnson.

Big Beautiful Bill Goes to the Senate

There were no surprise votes from any of Wisconsin’s members of Congress.

All of the state’s Republicans voted for the reconciliation package, while Wisconsin’s two Democrats voted No.

"As promised, House Republicans have delivered lower taxes, a secure border, unleashed American energy and reined in reckless federal spending," Congressman Tony Wied said in a statement.

“This legislation is a victory for working Americans across the nation and delivers on our promise to bring tax relief, reduce government waste, and secure our border. It delivers the largest tax cut in American history—returns an average of $5,000 in annual take-home pay to hardworking Americans, makes the Trump Tax Cuts permanent, and increases the child tax credit," Congressman Scott Fitzgerald said after the vote. "By eliminating taxes on tips and overtime pay, we’re ensuring that workers keep more of their hard-earned income."

“Today, the House prioritized American families over illegal immigrants and passed a bill that moves our country in the right direction,” Congressman Bryan Steil said. “This bill delivers a tax cut for our seniors, prevents a $1,500 tax increase on Wisconsin families, invests in securing our border, encourages and rewards work, and protects and preserves Medicaid for the most vulnerable members of our community. The House identified $1.5 trillion in savings for American taxpayers and we did so without making cuts to Social Security or Medicare for seniors.”

"Every House Democrat voted to give illegals Medicaid. Every Dem voted to tax your tips and overtime. Every Dem voted to slash the child tax credit. Every Dem voted to keep criminal illegal aliens here. Every Dem voted to raise your taxes. This is who they are," Congressman Tom Tiffany said on Twitter.

The reconciliation package now heads towards more opposition in the U.S. Senate, including questions from Wisconsin Republican Senator Ron Johnson. He’s called the plan “big, but not beautiful” in the past.
