Congressional Map Challenge Dismissed by Judges

A panel of three judges appointed by the Wisconsin Supreme Court just dismissed a lawsuit challenging the state's congressional maps.

The case was brought by a group of Democrat voters represented by Elias Law Group, who argued Wisconsin's congressional maps––drawn by Governor Evers and approved by the state Supreme Court––violated the Equal Protection clause, the Free Speech clause, separation of powers principles, and much more.

The crux of the plaintiffs' complaint was that the "congressional map directly discriminates against Petitioners, who support Democratic candidates in Wisconsin and––because of that affiliation––are effectively silenced and shut out from casting a meaningful congressional vote."

Another lawsuit challenging the state's congressional maps is still being considered by a separate panel of judges, and likely won't be heard until 2027.
