5 Lawsuits in 1 Month
Wisconsin’s attorney general is closing-in on three-dozen lawsuits or other legal filings against the Trump Administration.
A-G Josh Kaul on Thursday joined a multistate lawsuit against President Trump over new rules that make changes to the Affordable Care Act.
“The Trump Administration’s final rule would make numerous amendments to rules governing federal and state health insurance marketplaces which the administration estimates will cause up to 1.8 million people to lose their health insurance, while causing millions more to pay increased insurance
premiums and out-of-pocket costs,” Kaul’s office said in a statement.
The Trump Administration says the changes will “safeguard” the Obamacare exchanges, as well as streamline eligibility and sign-up times.
“This rule would make health insurance coverage less accessible,” Kaul said. “These changes that would undercut the Affordable Care Act."
More than 20 other states are also joining the lawsuit.
That is par for the course for Kaul and his dozens of legal filings against the Trump Administration.
In fact, most of the 34 lawsuits are legal filings that Kaul has signed-on to since the beginning of the year are part of multi-state coalitions.
Almost all of the cases are also driven by Democratic attorneys general.
Thursday’s filing is the fifth legal case this month that Kaul has signed-on to. He also signed-on to lawsuits over federal cuts to mental health funding for schools, the termination of Jobs Corps money, the Trump Administration’s decision to freeze $6.8 billion in education grants, and another case last week where Kaul and a group of 20 Democratic states sued over the elimination of FEMA BRIC money.
