Wisconsin Agencies Request 8.9% Budget Increase

Total agency requests amount to an increase of 8.94% over Act 15. If approved, the state budget for 2027-29 would rise from $101,622,378,600 to $109,940,577,600.

Agency Budget Requests

Most state agencies have submitted their budget requests and the increase in funding over Act 15 is substantial.

Of the 48 requests thus far submitted, 41 are requesting an increase in all funds appropriations. Total agency requests amount to an increase of 8.94% over Act 15 (the current budget), or $9,008,512,400.

If approved, the state budget for 2027-29 would rise from $101,622,378,600 to $109,940,577,600. If we include the 2025-27 all funds appropriations for the 5 agencies that have not yet submitted their requests, then the total agency budget request for 2027-29 would be $110,710,891,000.

The greatest dollar increases come from Health Services, the University of Wisconsin System, Corrections, Administration, and the Wisconsin Technical College System.
