Tiffany With SCOTUS on Girls' Sports
The Republican running for governor is celebrating the United States Supreme Court’s decision on boys playing in girls’ sports. And he is promising to keep boys in their own sports.
The court on Tuesday ruled in favor of West Virginia and Idaho, which have laws that ban boys from competing against girls.
Tiffany called it a “BIG WIN”
"The Supreme Court ruled states can ban biological males from girls’ sports,” Tiffany said on X.
He then hammered current Governor Tony Evers and Democrat frontrunner Francesca Hong, as well as Democrat Sara Rordriguez for their support of trans athletes, and allowing boys to play in girls’ sports.
"@GovEvers vetoed AB 100 & AB 102, while @FrancescaHongWI and @saraforwi voted to allow men in women’s sports," Tiffany added.
AB 100 would have banned biological boys from playing in high school or junior high sports. AB 102 would have done the same for college sports.
“It’s common sense that biological males should not compete in girls’ and women’s sports. Every female athlete deserves a level playing field and the opportunity to compete safely and fairly. Unfortunately, Governor Evers vetoed legislation that would have protected girls’ sports in Wisconsin. As governor, I will sign legislation ensuring that biological males cannot compete in girls’ and women’s sports in our state,” Tiffany said in a statement.
Wisconsin currently doesn't have a state law that deals with who plays in girls sports. But the WIAA, the group that runs high school sports in the state, does have a policy.
In early 2025, the WIAA updated its policy to say that only biological girls can play in girls' sports in the state.
But the WIAA said it based that policy on federal policy from the Trump Administration. Tuesday's ruling from the Supreme Court means state lawmakers could set a new policy.
