Tiffany Hammers Crowley on Immigration, ICE

Republican candidate for governor Tom Tiffany on Monday launched a new ad that criticizes Crowley for calling himself an “accomplice” to people who are in Wisconsin illegally.

Crowley: "I'm an accomplice"

Voters in Wisconsin are hearing a lot more about immigration, illegal immigrants, crime, and David Crowley.

Republican candidate for governor Tom Tiffany on Monday launched a new ad that criticizes Crowley for calling himself an “accomplice” to people who are in Wisconsin illegally.

“When it comes down to the immigrants, I’m not just an ally,” Crowley said in the ad. “I’m an accomplice.”

"He’ll be an 'accomplice' to illegal immigrants. From taxpayer-funded benefits to his goal of making Wisconsin a sanctuary state, David Crowley puts illegal immigrants first," Tiffany said in a post on X. "As governor, I’ll enforce our laws and ban sanctuary policies."

Tiffany is also highlighting Crowley's recent comments that he "absolutely" does "not" think that Wisconsin sheriffs should honor ICE detainers.

"Here in Milwaukee County we don't operate under a [detainer] program. For us, we should be protecting our most vulnerable communities," Crowley said during an interview with WisPolitics.

"David Crowley will turn Wisconsin into a sanctuary state where CRIMINAL illegal aliens are released back into our communities. In his words, he’ll be their 'accomplice,'" Tiffany added.

Immigration is an important issue to voters this fall.

According to Marquette Law School's latest poll, immigration is the second most important single issue to voters. Pollsters say 11% of voters rank immigration and border security as their most important issue, second only to inflation and the cost of living at 45%.

And it’s not just his comments on immigration that Tiffany is highlighting.

Crowley has a long, and public record of opposing ICE.

Crowley led Milwaukee County’s effort to ban ICE agents from county parks, as well as another plan to keep ICE out of Milwaukee County’s courthouse.

Crowley also led Milwaukee County in supporting the ICE Out legislation that calls for the end of Immigration and Customs Enforcement across the country.
