Crawford vs Schimel

Brad Schimel says Susan Crawford, and particularly her ads, have not been telling Wisconsin voters the whole truth.

Schimel appeared on WISN with host Jay Weber Thursday morning to expose what he called Crawford’s biggest lie.

“Susan Crawford was never a prosecutor. She keeps saying that, and the media won't call her on this. She never was a criminal prosecutor who did this work. She does a commercial where she's standing in front of a jury box, she didn't do that,” Schimel said. “I call it stolen valor. It's not the same as you know people who pretended to be in the military service, because I don't compare being a prosecutor to being a military service. But there is an element of this. This is just a complete lie.”

But Schimel said lying in campaign ads is basically par-for-the-course for Crawford.

“They are saying in that ad…that I gave a sweetheart deal to an offender. I was the prosecutor,” Schimel explained. “I went to court, the guy pled to the charge, the felony charge was charged with. I made a recommendation. The judge didn't even impose as much as I recommended.”

The two are in the final days of what has become Wisconsin and the nation’s most expensive race for the Supreme Court ever. WisPolitics reported this week that total spending in the race is now over $90 million.

Schimel said voters need to not buy what Crawford is selling in her ads.

On Wednesday, Crawford accused Schimel of being bought-off.

“Elon Musk and Brad Schimel’s corruption is on full display for Wisconsin voters to see. Right before Musk began spending money in support of Schimel, his company sued the State of Wisconsin—a case that Musk probably wants Schimel to rule on if he makes it to the Supreme Court,” campaign spokesman Derrick Honeyman said.
