Kirk Bangstad Laments Failed Assassination
Wisconsin’s most infamous brewery owner is making national headlines after he weighed-in on the latest attempt to kill President Trump.
Minocqua Brewing owner Kirk Bangstad took to X Saturday, saying he is disappointed that he couldn’t give-out free beer.
"Well, we almost got #freebeerday. Either a brother or sister in the Resistance needs to work on their marksmanship or he faked another assassination to get a positive news cycle,” Bangstad wrote.
Bangstad has offered free beer on the day that President Trump dies for years.
The reaction was immediate, and expected.
"This deranged call for the president’s assassination is beneath Wisconsin. Let’s reject this garbage," Republican candidate for governor Tom Tiffany immediately wrote on X.
Thousands of others on X also called Bangstad disgusting, and demanded that he be held accountable.
Even national pundit Jonathan Turley weighed-in.
"A brewery owned by a Democratic activist lamented that Trump survived and promised free beer for a day when he dies," Turley wrote. "The purpose of rage politics is to strip your opponents of any humanity and relieve yourself of any demands of decency."
Democrats in Wisconsin on Sunday distanced themselves from Bangstad.
Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesman Phil Shulman on Sunday called Bangstad's comments "completely unacceptable."
"We’re not afraid to call out this sort of inappropriate behavior no matter where it comes from — our GOP colleagues should learn to do the same," Schulman said in a statement.
Tiffany, however, said Democratic candidates need to do more than "call out" Bangstad's bad behavior.
"Will the media ask @FrancescaHongWI , who appeared on his podcast, if she condemns this statement?" He asked on X. "Will they ask @TheOtherMandela , who this lunatic dedicated a beer to?"
