Most Voters Worried About the Size of Their Tax Bill
More than half of voters in Wisconsin say they are worried about how much they are paying in taxes.
The latest Marquette Law School Poll shows that taxes and property taxes are among the top issues for voters in the state.
“Seventy percent of respondents say they are very concerned about inflation and the cost of living, which makes it the issue drawing the highest level of concern among nine issues included in the poll. Inflation and the cost of living is followed by health insurance, with 61% who are very concerned. Five other issues are virtually tied at 50% or 49%: taxes, abortion policy, jobs and the economy, illegal immigration and border security, and property taxes,” pollsters noted.
The poll shows that 50% of voters say they are “very concerned” about taxes. Another 33% are “somewhat concerned.” Only 2% are not concerned at all.
The numbers are similar for property taxes. The poll shows that 49% of voters are “very concerned,” while 29% are “somewhat concerned.” Just five percent are not concerned at all.
There is, as expected, a partisan split. But it is not as drastic as other issues.
The poll shows that 57% of Republicans say taxes are a concern. Just 42% of Democrats say the same. The poll shows 51% of independents say taxes are a concern.
When it comes to property taxes, 62% of Republicans say they are a concern. Just 39% of Democrats said the same, and 33% of independents said property taxes are a concern.
The top issue for Wisconsin voters in the new Marquette Poll is, of course, the cost of living and inflation. Followed by health insurance.
