Josh Kaul Joins Another Lawsuit Against Trump Administration
Josh Kaul is, once again, joining a lawsuit against President Trump.
On Tuesday Kaul joined a coalition of blue state attorneys generals in suing the president over the White House’s push to rollback grants for electric vehicle charging stations across the country.
“These grant programs are a win-win: they help create jobs and reduce emissions,” Kaul said in a statement. “The Trump administration should stop setting us back with its counterproductive attacks on clean energy.”
Congress okayed the EV charging money back in 2022 as part of a $1 trillion infrastructure spending package. After taking office last year, President Trump ordered that funding halted so he could “review” the grants. A court said back in June that the president didn’t have the power to stop all of the funding.
Kaul and 15 other state A-Gs are now suing to force the president to spend the rest of the money going forward.
“The complaint alleges that the Trump administration’s refusal to spend the funds is unlawful because it violates the separation of powers and violates the Administrative Procedure Act. The coalition asks the court to declare that the defendants’ actions are unlawful and to permanently stop the administration from withholding these funds,” the A-Gs wrote in their announcement.
California’s attorney general is leading the case.
But this is more than just a single case challenging President Trump’s authority to spend or not spend federal money.
This case is Kaul’s 35th active lawsuit against the Trump Administration.
In late November, Kaul sued the Trump Administration over food stamp eligibility restrictions. That was his lawsuit that month, and 53rd of the 2025 alone. Reports show that 35 of those cases continue to be pending before the court.
