Are You a “Hostile”?

Indivisible, a leftist voter turnout organization, labels all trump and conservative supporters as “hostile."

A national liberal activist group wants its volunteers to label any home expressing support for Donald Trump or conservative political causes as “hostile,” according to emails obtained by the MacIver News Service.

The Neighbor2Neighbor voter turnout program—led by Leftist group Indivisible—is asking its volunteers to “quickly report” these households by marking their addresses on a new “hostile” button on the organization's app. It ironically states “we want to respect those who believe differently from us.”

The criteria for being designated as “hostile” is extremely vague. According to Neighbor2Neighbor’s emails, a volunteer should use this button if:

  • There is a Trump or other Republican candidate yard sign in front of their house.

  • The neighbor is a known Republican, clinic protester, or any other belief system that would be hostile to our message.

  • Or you have a negative experience with a voter at the doors.

Obviously, a get-out-the-vote (GOTV) operation really only wants to increase turnout among those planning to vote for their preferred candidate. That makes it important to know who’s supporting your candidate and who’s supporting their opponent. It’s not at all surprising that Neighbor2Neighbor would have a way to record that information in its database. However, openly labeling people who don’t support your candidate as “hostile,” calls into question what else that database could be used for.

"Words mean things," one Wisconsin resident remarked. "They could have used a lot of different terms, but they choose military language."

Indivisible—the group leading this canvassing program—maintains a mission statement stating that it is “remaking our democracy” by “resist[ing] the Trump agenda.” It was founded by four Democrat congressional staffers immediately after Hillary Clinton lost to Donald Trump in 2016.

Indivisible is not just focused on cataloging the homes of Trump supporters in 2024. It also has an active “disinformation disruption” operation called the “Truth Brigade” that seeks to “put a stop to the tsunami of right-wing disinformation.” The operation allegedly consists of a “grassroots truth-tellers who effectively disrupt the flow of disinformation and misinformation online and offline.”

With early voting underway and election day nearing, liberal groups like Indivisible believe that their GOTV operations are key to delivering the win for Kamala Harris. The Neighbor2Neighbor ensures they knock on the right doors to increase Democrat voter turnout. What they intend to do with all the “hostiles” they identify along the way remains to be seen.
