Walker Lends Support to Anthony LoCoco
There’s more attention being placed on Wisconsin’s next judicial race.
Former Gov. Scott Walker on Thursday endorsed Anthony LoCoco in his race for the Court of Appeals District II.
“At a time when radical judges at every level threaten Wisconsin’s future, we must elect principled conservatives who will defend our constitutional rights and keep our communities safe,” Walker said. “Anthony’s record shows he will do just that. I am proud to endorse his campaign and ask my fellow District II neighbors to join me in supporting Anthony for Court of Appeals Judge.”
The race isn’t until next spring, but it is shaping-up to be very competitive.
LoCoco, who once clerked for the Wisconsin Supreme Court and now works at both the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty and the Institute for Reforming Government, is looking unseat current appeals court judge Lisa Neubauer.
Conservatives see the race as a chance to hold the appeals court in the Milwaukee suburbs, and have a check against the liberal-majority Wisconsin Supreme Court.
“Our Court of Appeals is the last word in the vast majority of Wisconsin cases. We have to fill the Court with judicial conservatives ready to defend our freedoms,” LoCoco said on X on Friday.
Neubauer was appointed to the seat back in 2007, and won re-election in 2008, 2014, and again in 2020. She is married to former Democratic state Rep and former Wisconsin Democratic Party boss Jeff Neubauer. Current Democratic Assembly leader Greta Neubauer is her daughter.
If LoCoco wins next year, he will flip the seat back to a conservative judge, and that will give conservatives 100% of the seats in the Waukesha-based appeals court.
