Sweet 16: The Worst of Gov. Tony Evers’ 2019-21 Budget

April 2, 2019

March may be over, but the NCAA tournament is still going strong! Welcome to Sweet 16: The Worst of the 2019-21 Budget.

In the spirit of March Madness, we’ve created our own Sweet 16 bracket. Instead of ranking basketball teams, we’ve created a bracket pitting the worst policy proposals in Gov. Tony Evers’ 2019-21 budget against each other. Today, we ask you to vote to decide which item is the worst of the worst in Evers’ budget proposal.

We think these 16 ideas are bad news for taxpayers and for the future of the state of Wisconsin. Together, these proposals fleece the hardworking taxpayers and erode personal liberty. They restrict choice and grow government in ways that would put our state on a dangerous path.

The budget document is hundreds of pages long, and full of many controversial proposals. Steps toward legalizing marijuana and providing driver’s licenses to undocumented individuals are among these hot topics. We look forward to the robust debate on these issues, but decided to leave them out of our Sweet 16 list in favor of ideas that directly and negatively impact taxpayers in this $84 billion goliath of a spending document. You, the taxpayers, will decide: which policy proposal is the worst of the worst? Game on.

Vote in the bracket here.
