The Dairy State saw nearly 700 dairy farms close last year, fed by a precipitous decline in milk sales and prices. And the ag industry in general could get hit even harder if Gov. Tony Evers’ plan to roll back a critical tax credit makes the cut. While the rollback exempts farmers, it would target food processors, integrally connected to the ag sector. Raising taxes on such manufacturers is the fastest way to make a bad situation worse.
