Direct primary care – where a doctor is paid a monthly fee in exchange for a menu of primary care services, bypassing insurance red tape – is a cost-saving, innovative way to tackle the rising price of health care. The City of La Crosse and the La Crosse School District are great examples of the potential to both improve care and save money. Adding DPC to their list of options has proven extremely popular and has saved more than $1.5 million in a few short years.
