[Madison, Wisc…] The Joint Committee on Finance plans to vote on budget items for the University of Wisconsin System and the Department of Natural Resources. Two omnibus motions were released on Friday afternoon that make changes to Gov. Scott Walker’s proposed budget. PDF copies of the motions are available below.

Under the UW plan, the legislature would reduced Walker’s two-year cut from $300 million to $250 million. The plan would also keep a tuition freeze in place for in-state students. The omnibus also gives the UW System, Gateway Technical College and the Waukesha County Executive authority to authorize independent charter schools.

The plan for DNR would eliminate Walker’s plan to freeze the stewardship program – which borrows money to purchase land. The GOP motion would instead limit the amount of new bonding to $33.3 million a year through the year 2020. The DNR motion also keeps in place position cuts proposed by Walker.
