Wisconsin’s Uber Debate Pits the Free Market vs. Crony Capitalism

[Madison, Wisc…] The debate over companies like Uber and Lyft has made its way to the state capitol. While cities like Madison have gone as far as filing a lawsuit against Uber to keep them from operating, a group of bipartisan legislators have put forth a bill that would standardize the regulations of ride-sharing companies statewide. This would allow Uber and Lyft to operate anywhere in Wisconsin as long as they get the proper insurance and their drivers pass a background check. The bill will be debated on the Assembly floor on Tuesday.
