UW Colleges Could Merge Campus Administrations, Save Millions

[Janesville, Wisc…] The 13 two-year UW Colleges throughout the state could reorganize into regional organizations with many shared administrative positions depending on cuts in state aid in the next budget, officials say.

Carmen Wilson, UW Rock County Dean, says the plan under consideration would involve campuses forming regional organizations that share deans and other administrative personnel. Other positions would become centralized and serve the entire state.

Ray Cross, UW System President, told MacIver News he’s working with lawmakers on Joint Finance to reduce cuts in aid. However, at the same time, the system is looking at a wide range of options to address the potential cuts.

JFC is expected to make a decision regarding state aid to the UW System sometime in May.
