Joint Finance to Take Up Budget in Coming Weeks

MacIver News Service | April 7, 2015

[Madison, Wisc…] After holding public hearings around Wisconsin throughout March, the Joint Committee on Finance is ready to begin putting its mark on the governor’s proposal.

Lawmakers will have to address hot button issues in the governors proposal that include making the UW-System autonomous while cutting $300 million in aid, suspending bonding for the stewardship program until the DNR has its debt-service under control, yet authorizing $1.3 billion for transportation.

JFC expects to complete its version of the budget before Memorial Day. From there the Assembly and the Senate will take it to the floor for debate and passage.
