MacIver News Service | October 9, 2014[Madison, Wisc…] Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wisconsin) sat down with the MacIver Institute recently to defend his BadgerCare reforms that passed in the last state budget. Walker specifically called out Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin) for criticizing the reforms when the federal government was the main reason they were delayed. Since the changes went into effect, everyone in poverty has access to BadgerCare and more than 67,000 people were given the chance to transition to affordable private coverage. 26,000 of those people have yet to sign up on the exchange, but may have found coverage elsewhere. They currently have until November 2nd to sign up on the exchange during a special enrollment period.
