As followers of the MacIver Institute, you know how contentious the Common Core debate in Wisconsin has become lately. Now, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Evers is taking his fight to preserve the current standards directly to the people of Wisconsin.
Earlier this week, Superintendent Evers released this video regarding the legislative hearing tomorrow on Senate Bill 619, a bill that would create a model academic standards board. SB 619, authored by Sen. Leah Vukmir and Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt, was drafted in response to complaints received from the public during hearings held in the fall.
This is Superintendent Evers’ “second call to action” on this subject, calling the bill a “power grab by our legislators” and “madness.”
