[Madison, Wisc…] Sen. Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) fought against eliminating residency requirements for municipal workers in the state budget during the Senate debate on Thursday. He said the city could lose between 50,000 and 100,000 people in the next ten years even though he believes it is just a “small group” that wants to leave. Carpenter also characterized those wanting to leave as “selfish” and plantation owners. The provision was kept in the budget. The Governor is expected to sign the budget before the end of the month.
