Joint Finance Passes Plan to Ensure Milwaukee Pays for Streetcar, Not Statewide Ratepayers

[Madison, Wisc…] The Joint Committee on Finance passed a motion on Thursday that will ensure that the city of Milwaukee incurs the costs of a proposed streetcar, as opposed to utility ratepayers. The motion proposed by Rep. Dale Kooyenga (R-Brookfield) will make cities pay utility relocation costs to accomodate urban rail transit systems. This motion, if it stays in the budget, will cover the whole state, but would have an immediate effect on Milwaukee.
