MacIver News Service | May 15, 2013[Madison, Wisc…] Representative Andre Jacque (R-De Pere) has introduced a bill to repeal the 75 cent “Police and Fire Protection” fee on each Wisconsin phone line. The tax is written into state statutes to sound like a fee that supports local police and fire fighters. However, the money is deposited directly into the state’s general fund. Jacque says the tax is just another way to feed government’s excess spending and should be removed before other politicians decide to increase the fee.
The MacIver News Service reported previously about a proposal in the Legislature that would have increased the fee by 40 cents.
