We could really use your help.
The opponents of the free market and liberty want us to stop. They’ve turned to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board seeking to shut us up. They’re hoping the Dane County District Attorney begins to investigate us. They’ve threatened television stations in an attempt to get them not to run our ads. They want the IRS to revoke our 501(c)3 status.
For the last three years, the John K. MacIver Institute for Public Policy, the Free Market Voice for Wisconsin, has served as your trusted source for news and analysis.
Now, efforts are underway to silence that voice.
We are a Wisconsin-based think tank that promotes free markets, individual freedom and responsible government.
As you know, we operate the MacIver News Service, MacIverInstitute.com, WisconsinOpenGov.com and we recently partnered with the Americans for Prosperity Foundation to develop, promote and maintain the It’s Working Wisconsin website.
The It’s Working commercials are part of a multimedia educational effort that helps citizens separate the rhetoric from reality on the budget reforms passed in Wisconsin last year. Over one thousand Wisconsinites have attended It’s Working Wisconsin town halls to get the facts on how the budget reforms have transformed Wisconsin, putting the state on the path towards fiscal prosperity.
Our It’s Working efforts have focused solely on policy and the impact the budget and labor reforms have had in Wisconsin. The website contains reams of factual data, which rely upon the analysis of the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau and the honest reporting of independent journalists from newsrooms across the state. The fact of the matter is every week there are more and more examples of how It’s Working, and we will continue to share those facts.
Now, some in the political establishment are trying to silence us.
We have no intention of backing away from the facts. The truth. The news.
We will not be silenced.
But we need your help.
We need to fend off these legal challenges. Those who wish to silence us hope to tie us up in expensive legal maneuvers to the point where we will simply give in because we lack the funds to continue to defend ourselves. We can’t let them intimidate us.
So, I ask you today for the most generous, voluntary, tax-deductible contribution you can make. We will put 100 percent of the proceeds of this appeal toward the It’s Working effort and any legal challenges to our free speech rights.
