[Madison, Wisc…] Many of Rep. Dale Kooyenga’s (R-Brookfield) opponents claim that his $752 million tax cut will take away from education funding, only benefit the rich, and create a massive structural deficit. Kooyenga says that the tax reform package focuses on the middle class by lowering all rates and simplifying the tax code. He also says that his plan will leave room for an increase in K-12 education funding, and a recent Legislative Fiscal Bureau analysis says the plan would create a $507 million structural surplus with annual economic growth at three percent, the average over the last decade.
