Lawmakers Propose Unemployment Reforms to Reduce Waste, Fraud, and Abuse

[Madison, Wisc…] Representative Dan Knodl (R-Germantown) met with the the state’s Unemployment Insurance Council on Thursday along with Representative Chris Kapenga (R-Delafield). The two lawmakers, along with 25 others, sent a letter to the council urging them to reform Wisconsin’s UI program, stating there are many wasteful and fradulent UI claims. At the meeting, Rep. Kapenga said tax rates and wage levels are already at their max and it is time to look into who should be eligible for UI benefits.

The MacIver News Service recently reported about the letter sent to the UI Council, and reported on the amount of fraudulent UI claims are not prosecuted each year.
