Wisconsin Senate Passes Mining Jobs Bill

[Madison, Wisc…] The Wisconsin Senate passed a mining jobs bill on Wednesday after about nine hours of debate. Democrats strongly opposed the Republican bill, and sought to replace it with their own mining bill. As debate began on the Senate Floor, Democrats consistently opposed the Republican bill saying that it would be impossible to safely mine iron ore in northern Wisconsin. However, Democrats argued that their version of the bill would provide for the mine to operate safely without impacting the environment.
