MacIver Newsmakers Podcast – Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt On Wisconsin’s Education Crisis

Nov. 5, 2019

The news about K12 education in Wisconsin has not been positive recently. With only 40 percent of  students proficient in reading  or math and Wisconsin having, once again, the largest achievement gap between white and black students in the country, many are asking what exactly is going on in our schools. So, the timing is perfect this week to welcome in State Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt to the MacIver Newsmakers Podcast.

Thiesfeldt is chair of the Assembly Education Committee and has over twenty years of experience as an educator. We discuss all things education – proficiency scores, the achievement gap, his plans to fix education in Wisconsin and his recent meeting with DPI Superintendent Carolyn Stanford Taylor. Oh yeah, we also talk about Politifact’s ridiculous false rating of his comments drawing attention to our education crisis.

If you have children in school, if you are a taxpayer or if you just care about the future of our great state, you need to listen to this edition of the MacIver Newsmakers Podcast.
