Protester Says New Capitol Permit Process is ‘Kind of Silly’

[Madison, Wisc…] A day after it was announced that the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Department of Administration (DOA) had reached a deal over the permitting process in the Capitol, most protesters refused to discuss how it would impact the daily noon-time sing along. One protester who spoke with the MacIver News Service said that singers come to the Capitol spontaneously everyday at noon and it is “kind of silly” to give advance notice. The settlement agreement requires groups of 12 or more to either get a permit or provide advance notice that they will be holding an event. Permits, however, will take precedent over any group that does not provide notice.
