[Waukesha, Wisc…] State Senators Paul Farrow (R-Pewaukee) and Leah Vukmir (R-Wauwatosa) announced at a school choice rally in Waukesha on Thursday that they would not support a budget that does not include an expansion of school choice.

Fellow Senator Rick Gudex (R-Fond du Lac), who could not attend the event, is joining his colleagues in making school choice a priority in the budget.

“We are here today to show our strong support for the expansion of school choice in the state of Wisconsin,” said Sen. Vukmir after the event, “We want to send a very clear message that not only do we support the expansion of school choice, we believe that it is so important that we will not be supporting a budget that does not include an expansion.”

“I think it is a key component,” echoed Sen. Farrow, “When you look at the opportunity for parents, it empowers them to give their kids the education they believe will make them successful. That has to be there, and that is why we are standing firm on it.”

“I support the Parental School Choice Program because I believe that parents should have the right to select the best educational path to serve their child. Students should be allowed all the best resources they need to become productive and responsible leaders, regardless of their financial circumstances,” said Gudex in a joint statement from the three Senators.
