Bi-Partisan Support for School Choice

[Milwaukee, Wisc…] Politicians and public officials from all sides came together in Milwaukee on Wednesday in support of the school choice movement.

The group National School Choice Week held an event in the city as part of its nation wide tour this week.

School Choice means parents can send their kids, and the tax dollars associated with them, to any school they want. The movement has faced strong criticism from public schools and teachers unions, who once had exclusive access to those tax dollars.

During the School Choice event in Milwaukee, Governor Walker, Mayor Barrett, County Executive Abele, MPS Superintendent Thornton, and others all spoke in favor of the movement.

Right now, School Choice in Wisconsin is limited to Milwaukee and Racine. Supporters would like to see the legislature expand the program statewide.
